New menu - what's changing?

So, we've mentioned our new menu is going to be ready next week - on 17 March to be precise. We've tested, tweaked, tasted (and tasted again!) to bring you some brand new dishes and improve some of your old favourites. Over the next few days, I'll be sharing some of those changes with you.

First up, we've looked at the ingredients we use. As the basis for all our food, it's pretty important to get them right, so we've done the following to make things even better than before:

  • All our meat is now sourced from our local butcher, Wares in Torrington. From the mince in our lasagne to the 8oz sirloin steak, we work with Steve to make sure we can put the best on your plate.

  • We've tweaked and improved some recipes, including our homemade lasagne, to make them even more tasty.

  • We've sourced better chips! A good pub chip is important to us, so we've searched high and low and come across some great, chunky, crispy chips that we think help make your meal!

Wherever possible, we source locally. Our potatoes come from Paul who grows them up the road. Fruit and vegetables are delivered by a local company that works with farmers in the area to supply businesses. Our eggs are produced at a brilliant free-range farm in Winkleigh. And of course our ice cream is from Tom's farm in Holsworthy. There are some items we source from further afield, such as our coffee beans, which are roasted to perfection by a small company in Suffolk. We're also now offering a range of award-winning pies, made in the Cotswolds, by a small company that sells exclusively to pubs. So, where we can't always go local, we do always try and make sure we're supporting other small businesses in the UK who care about their produce.

More updates on the new dishes that will be on the menu tomorrow, which will also be live on the website from Monday 16 March, so watch this space!
