As many of you know, we lost our beloved big fella, Max the Rottweiler in October. He was just two-and-a-half years old and whilst we sadly couldn't know for certain the cause of his passing, it is likely it was due to an aggressive cancer or leukaemia. We are therefore hosting a charity night in his memory on Friday 11 November to raise funds for research into cancer in canines.
The evening will include:
The option of a three course meal for just £35 per person
Live music from the Littleham Howlers
A raffle
A doggy-themed table-top quiz, just for fun!
Tables are available from 6pm - 7.30pm for the meal. We are taking bookings and pre-orders only, please see below for the menu and if you would like to get booked in, call us on 01805 625313 or pop over to the contact us page to book online. We will then be in touch to get your choices from the menu.
We will have a raffle with some lovely prizes, including a home-baked cake from our resident dessert maker, Sue, meat from Wares in Torrington and much more (any donations gladly received!) The Littleham Howlers will be entertaining us with their fabulous voices and shaking their bucket afterwards - so bring your spare change! We will also have a quiz on your tables for a bit of fun throughout the evening. You are of course welcome to come along just for the music, raffle and a drink. All money raised will be donated to The Langford Trust for Animal Health and Welfare. The Langford Small Animal Hospital in Weston Super Mare is where we took Max for emergency treatment when it became clear he was seriously ill. Sadly they couldn't save him, but their research programme and teaching hospital work tirelessly to improve the life chances for all seriously ill animals.
On Friday, the music will start at around 7.30pm and we will call the raffle at 9pm. We are also dog-friendly throughout the pub, so all our four-pawed buddies are welcome!
Can't make Friday? We are hosting our monthly paws at the pub on Saturday 12 November at lunchtime (12.30-3pm) and will have a donation pot on the bar if you would like to come along then instead. Can't make either event, but would still like to donate? Just pop across to our Just Giving Page in Memory of Max.
Let's hope we can raise something towards helping other doggies who are affected by cancer and serious illness. Max loved all his doggy buddies and we know he would be wagging his tail at the idea his memory could help in any small way.
