Welcome to
The Bell Inn Monkleigh
A traditional thatched inn with a smokehouse and grill twist to our menu!
The Bell Inn is a 17th Century pub, nestled in the North Devon Countryside in the village of Monkleigh. The River Torridge, Tarka Trail and market town of Great Torrington are nearby, not to mention the North Devon coastline. We pride ourselves in serving locally sourced food and drinks in a traditional setting, with a large garden with fabulous views!
Open Wednesday to Sunday
We are open Wednesday through to Sunday, lunchtimes and evenings (we close on Mondays and Tuesdays). Please note on Sundays we serve our traditional roasts at lunchtime and then open for drinks in the evening (we do not serve food on Sunday evenings). Full details of our opening hours are at the bottom of this page.
Try our smokehouse and grill menu
With our wood-fired smoker, we offer something a bit different for your meal out! We installed our large-capacity wood smoker in early 2021 and use it to slow-smoke whole briskets, sausages and pork bellies from our butcher, Wares in Torrington. This provides a range of signature smoked dishes. We also serve freshly grilled fish from Appledore, a range of grilled meats from our butcher, veggie and vegan options, plus our ever-popular burgers and ribs.
Traditional Sunday Roast
On Sundays we serve our roast with a choice of three slow-cooked joints or veggie option. We start serving from1pm until 2.30pm. Packed full of flavour and piled high, it's a firm favourite so booking is advised!
To book, as always call us on 01805 625313 or visit the contact us page for online reservations.
What's On
We run regular quiz nights, live music and other themed evenings. Take a look at our events page to find out more!

OUR FOOD
Smokehouse and grill
menu
We had the inspiration to install our American wood-fired smoker early in 2021. The slow-smoking style of cooking quickly became a passion for Roy and his kitchen team, urging them to try new rubs, sauces and cuts to tempt the taste buds! We work closely with our butcher and fishmonger to provide the best fresh ingredients, plus vegetarian and vegan options via our local greengrocer. In addition, our burgers and ribs have quite a following! On Sundays, we switch to our traditional Sunday roast. We also offer a range of delicious desserts either homemade or sourced from our brilliant patisserie suppliers in Bude.
DRINKS
Real ales, good wines, great spirits (and fab coffee!)
Of course a pub isn't a pub without well kept real ales and ciders so we always have a selection available. We're big wine fans ourselves, so we source some lovely ones from our local merchant. Then there's the spirits - we offer a wide range of tipples including gins, rums and some extra special single cask whiskey. And we also know it's not all about the booze for everyone, so we stock non--alcoholic options and pride ourselves in delivering a proper coffee, freshly made from bean to cup.

OTHER GOOD STUFF
Dogs, muddy boots and plenty of hoots
That's hoots as in 'having a hoot' as opposed to owls! Our dog-friendliness levels are regularly tested by our resident pub dogs, Patch and Max, who have very exacting standards on comfort and suitable treats.
We're situated on on the A388 and have a good-sized car park and south-facing garden beer-garden with plenty of space.
