The Bell Inn
A traditional thatched inn with a BBQ and smokehouse outdoor kitchen serving great food!
The Bell Inn is a 17th Century pub, nestled in the North Devon Countryside in the village of Monkleigh. The River Torridge, Tarka Trail and market town of Great Torrington are nearby, not to mention the North Devon coastline. We pride ourselves in serving locally sourced food and drinks in a traditional setting, with a large garden with fabulous views!
Open Wednesday to Sunday
We are open lunchtimes and evenings, Wednesday through to Sunday (see below for our full opening hours).
Covid safety rules apply - everyone over the age of 16 must check-in, the rule of six applies inside, masks should be worn when not seated and we can offer table service only. This all means we are still limited on space inside to distance our tables, so it is safest to book if you're joining us for food.
We have a brand new wood-fired kitchen with BBQ
We serve fresh fish from Appledore, a range of BBQ'd and smoked meat from our butcher, Wares in Torrington, veggie and vegan options, plus our ever-popular burgers and ribs.
On Sundays we serve our traditional Sunday roast from 1pm to 2.30pm. Packed full of flavour and piled high, it's a firm favourite and so booking is advised!
To book, as always call us on 01805 938285 or visit the contact us page for online reservations.
BBQ and smokehouse menu
Here at The Bell we serve a BBQ and smokehouse menu, cooked fresh in our outdoor wood-fired kitchen. We offer a selection of BBQ'd meat and fish, plus vegetarian options also flame-grilled. In addition, our burgers and ribs have quite a following! On Sundays, we switch to our traditional Sunday roast, served from our Carvery. Our meat is supplied by our local butcher, Wares in Torrington. Our fish is from Appledore and fresh produce is sourced from farms in the West Country whenever possible. We also offer a range of delicious desserts either homemade or sourced from our brilliant patisserie suppliers in Bude.
Real ales, good wines, great spirits (and fab coffee!)
Of course a pub isn't a pub without well kept real ales and ciders so we always have a selection available. We're big wine fans ourselves, so we source some lovely ones from our local merchant. Then there's the spirits - we offer a wide range of tipples including gins, rums and some extra special single cask whiskey. And we also know it's not all about the booze for everyone, so we stock non--alcoholic options and pride ourselves in delivering a proper coffee, freshly made from bean to cup.
OTHER GOOD STUFF
Dogs, muddy boots and plenty of hoots
That's hoots as in 'having a hoot' as opposed to owls! Our dog-friendliness levels are regularly tested by our resident pub dogs, Patch and Max, who have very exacting standards on comfort and suitable treats.
We're situated on on the A388 and have a good-sized car park and south-facing garden beer-garden with plenty of space.
